Vikings Fall against
Valparaiso moves to 1-2 on the season with a loss to Northridge 74-70. Jack Smiley had a career high 39 points going 14-20 from the field and 9-12 from the free throw line. Alec Platipodis posted 11 points while also grabbing 6 rebounds.
In a game that was made up of alternating buckets, it came down to the final quarter. Tied at 51 going into the last quarter of the game, the Vikings turned to Smiley to lead the charge. Both Valpo and Northridge were trading blows the entire quarter and it came down to one minute left with the Vikings down 6. Forcing multiple turnovers in the late stage of the game, the Vikings got the opportunity to tie it with ten seconds left down by three. The ball goes inside to Phillip Amones with two seconds left and he gets fouled. Going to the line for two, he makes the first, misses the second, forcing the Vikings to foul and eventually lose the game.
The team looks to turn it around next Friday in a home game against Lowell.
