Vikings Fall against
Northridge

The Valparaiso Vikings faced a tough test against Northridge on December 7, 2024, in a non-conference matchup. The Vikings fell short, losing 65-36 in a game where offensive struggles proved to be the deciding factor.

From the opening tip, Northridge established control, jumping out to a 15-9 lead in the first quarter. Northridge is a senior-laden team returning 7 out of their top 8 players and ranked among the top 20 teams in the state. Valparaiso’s offense couldn’t find a consistent rhythm, scoring 10 points in the second quarter and 8 in the third. Meanwhile, Northridge built on its advantage, showcasing a balanced attack to maintain a commanding lead.

For Valparaiso, Avery led the scoring effort with 15 points, shooting 50% from the field. McConnachie also made a strong contribution, scoring 10 points on an efficient 71% shooting while grabbing 7 rebounds and adding 2 steals. However, the Vikings struggled collectively, shooting just 36% from the field and 23% from three-point range, which limited their ability to keep pace. Northridge’s defensive pressure and efficient scoring, particularly in the second and third quarters, proved to be too much for the Vikings. Despite Valparaiso’s efforts, the team couldn’t close the gap, ultimately sealing the game to a 65-36 Viking loss.
